When she receives a phone call that thoroughly frightens her. She packs a bag and flees the apartment and heads to the garage in the apartment building, Thorwald Place, that she resides in. Her car has been parked for nine months. She never makes it to the car before she is grabbed from behind and strangled. This is just the beginning of the story. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from UmaF -- Not a scary supernatural : would not have picked this book to read once I saw “supernatural” as a defined genre. Supernatural is not one of usual genres to read. It did have supernatural throughout the whole book but nothing that was totally off the wall for me. It also contained mystery and some humor. This book thoroughly surprised and entertained me from the very beginning. The author wrote the book in the first person as the protagonist, Rachael, is murdered but gets stuck in the afterlife at her building’s elevators. Reading this book reminded me of the Alfred Hitchcock series of the 60’s. For a recluse getting killed in her own apartment building with strict security measures, on site security, CCTV cameras, you would think finding the killer would be very simple. Not so….. I’d been on the search for something original and unique that would catch my attention and I found it in this book. Oh yes there are many ghost stories, and of course there were the usual restrictions put on who could see the ghosts, but I loved the twists in this one. I enjoyed the limitations put on the main character. The writing was brilliant and the flow of the plot kept me hooked that I needed to know what happened next.
